Album Review
Paul Revere and the Raiders scored seven chart hits between the fall of 1965 and the winter of 1967, and all of them — "Steppin' Out," "Just Like Me," "Kicks," "Hungry," "The Great Airplane Strike," "Good Thing," and "Ups and Downs" — were included among the 11 tracks on the group's first hits collection. Also included were "Louie, Louie," the Raiders' first Columbia single, and its follow-up, "Louie, Go Home," a B-side instrumental, plus the newly penned "Legend of Paul Revere," which told the band's story. Thus, the album traced the band from its beginnings as a Northwest club band to its reign as an L.A. pop/rock success. There would be more hits, but this brief compilation (it originally ran under 30 minutes) contained the essence of the Raiders' most successful period and indeed marked the end of the band's lineup, as the rhythm section split to form another group, leaving Revere and lead singer Mark Lindsay to recruit a new edition of the Raiders. [The 2000 CD reissue on Columbia/Legacy adds four bonus tracks: "Him or Me — What's It Gonna Be?" (their biggest post-1966 hit of the 1960s), "I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone" (which predated the Monkees' version), "Action," and "Peace of Mind."]

Paul Revere & The Raiders
by Raiders Rule!Paul Revere and The Raiders with Mark Lindsay was my first concert as a pre-teen in the 60's. This album represents all the fun and happiness that was RIGHT with the world at that time! I just purchased this album for great memories and was not disappointed. Close your eyes and go back to the time of a handsome lead singer with a ponytail that made your parents CRAZY, tight white tights, energy beyond compare, and all the time in the world to enjoy them - sort of a pre-summer of love! Thanks iTunes!!!!!!

Paul Revere & The Raiders
by GraybeekerMy very first music concert was at a Paul Revere & The Raiders concert. It was in Des Moines, Iowa and the mid 60's. It was at the War Memorial Coliseum(?) in downtown. Loved every minute of it. I loved the band. My style of music. We needed more bands with the same crisp and fun music. I loved the outfits. Great memories of the music and the days enjoying it.
