iTunes Review

All of 28 when Darkness on the Edge of Town was released, Bruce Springsteen was ready to pull back on the dreamscape of his previous three albums. Its more clearly recorded sound reflected a tough clarity of vision on the American Dream — for each flinty vow to reach the "Promised Land," each lustful eyeing of "Candy's Room," there were wiped-out factory workers and car rides that didn't quite end the way "Born to Run" had promised. The verbal action of the earlier songs was also cut back; Springsteen offered plenty of memorable lines ("It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive"), but gone were the Berry- and Dylan-dense lyrics. They apparently didn't seem appropriate to what their creator had learned while seeing his career sidetracked in a legal battle with former management, not to mention the close reading he'd given The Grapes of Wrath. He wasn't denying fun and romance, but he'd obviously found an answer to the question"Is that all there is?"

SPRINGSTEEN KILLED KEVIN WATSON!

by Rkiv

Don't mess with people who rate this album 5 stars 'cause they're dangerous! If you say "Bruce Zimmerman, yeah right. He's a blue-collar wanker" in one of their faces you'll be stabbed to death like what Karen Lee Cooper did to Kevin Watson!

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN IS DANGEROUS!!!

And R.I.P. Kevin Watson...

Listen to these songs because they're good for you.

Yes, Born to Run is his best album, but this is a very close second. The opening song tells the story of humanity's corruption: greed. The Promised Land is classic Springsteen that provides inspiration and hope for anyone who feels like they're going nowhere. Streets of Fire is a song that is just plain empowering. Darkness on the Edge of Town is the last song not as a grand finale, but as a chilling prophecy of the future of society. All of these songs are fantastically composed and compiled, there are no "fillers," and after listening, you'll feel enlightened, which you don't get a lot from other songs, albums, or artists.

Unbeatble

One Of the greatest albums of all time. The boss is amazing one of his best along with born to run,the river, greetings and the wild and the innocent. This is the most underrated amazing lyrics. Yuo would never believe this albums intencity live,. There is no music collectoin complete without it. Racing in the street is amazing the lyrics and intensity are unbeatble. Streets of fire truly an amazing hidden gem. Candys room and adam are great show openers and just increble. The promised land and Prove it all night will have the most reluctant fan dancing. Badland is great. Factory and somthing in the night will bring you to tears. Darkness on the edge of town is amazing a total must have. You need to hear this album not a dud in sight. This album puts modern rocker to rappers to shame. Best 9.90 you will ever spend must buy. Also check out born to run, grettings, the river, wild and the inocent. BRUCE YOU TRUELY ARE THE BOSS!
