by sugrpophrtstopIt's pretty difficult to find any of their music besides on iTunes, but it was one of the best decisions I've made. Their music is... sweet and thick and syrupy. It drips with melancholy and is almost indescribable. The whispery voice just adds to the greatness that is this album. I really don't think I can put into words what this album IS and how it makes me feel. Favorite tracks are def. No Need, Sociao (5:32), and the instrumental on Out is overwhelming. I wish Comrade was appreciated for their ability nationally. This could very well be the best album I own? In my opinion, at least.
beautiful and beautifully done
by tharpeyIncredible selection of songs which relate together flawlessly. i'm not sure if this is Comrade's freshman release or not, but it shows tremendous maturity! they have mastered the art of patience which is enhanced by beautiful and disciplined arrangements.
The music seems to have a healthy dose of anything from Sigur Ros and Radiohead to Jeff Buckley, Sparklehorse, and Daniel Johnston. Sometimes even hinting toward the honest and raw musical approaches of Nina Simone and Emmylou Harris.
On top of all of these credentials - i recently had the honor to play a show with these guys & they are as humble as anyone i've met. It's impressive enough when a band now days seems to be as musically pure as these guys are - but they are also just incredibly nice and genuine people.
I highly recommend that you purchase this album. skip starbucks for a day - you won't regret it.
