Album Review

Unfortunately, there's too much experimentation and not enough hooks on Smith & Mighty's long-awaited album debut. The duo simply don't find a happy medium between jungle and reggae on Bass Is Maternal, recorded for their own More Rockers label.

Their influence ranges from what was once called "trip hop" to digi-dub, drumNbass, Nu-Roots and to heavy UK soul. Now that all shapes and forms of music are directly drawing from dub once again, to hear this now is to hear what Rob, Ray and Peter (Smith & Mighty) were hearing then. If you can find any of their productions/mixes under the name MORE ROCKERS--you will have the ultimate dub/drumNbass experience possible.

Seriously...
