Album Review

Matt Redman's return to prowess came with this confident, emboldened collection of Brit-pop-style worship. Short of a rogue hit here and there, the talented songwriter had failed to live up to his potential with his releases in 2002 and 2004. Beautiful News put him back in the center of everyone's radar screen with its emotive, high-energy output. Even the ballads are crafted with pointed stylings that maintain the album's stirring momentum. The simple yet meaningful album title comes from John 3:16 — common fodder for worship artists if ever there was any. Yet Redman injects creative imagery and thoughtfulness where others have settled for the routine. If Delirious? ever produced a cover album of Chris Tomlin standards, it might sound like this. Fresh, fervent, and potent, Beautiful News stirs the souls of young and old alike.

A Notable Exception

by AuroraMacLean

I love Matt Redman & his gentle, intimate worship music. I've loved all of his CDs! With one notable exception.. This album is a colossal disappointment. Instead of majestic worship music, the sounds were reminiscent of bad mind-numbing & market-driven soulless pop. Almost attempting to be "Christian Rock" (which is horrible in its own right) - and missing the mark. Profoundly. Stick to what you know Matt. Please.

Great Album

by EricDBriseno

This album projects a strong praise of description of who God is in all his splendor.
-Beautiful News, Blessing are fun driven tracks to crank your system up to
-Shine, Take it to the Streets praise how we should live as Christians to reach out to others
-Yes and Amen, A Greater Song, Fearfully and Wonderfully Made will give you goosebumps or put the fear of God back into your system...definitely worth checking out.
-Thank You for Healing Me, great song to inspire anyone to keep pressing into God's healing power for any situation

....people do not listen to the negative reviews that downplay this album as not being true or watered down "worship". you may not be able to sit in a church pew and sing these songs off a projector, but these lyrics will speak to you

Not impressed with this one

I normally love Matt Redman's music but this one is just weak. Some older songs redone and then some empty new ones that just don't say anything. I regret buying this one.

The light and passionate sounds of Matt Redman are even more endearing when you know that he writes his own material, something that few pop artists really do. Taking the CCM market by surprise with The Friendship & the Fear in 1998, he revealed himself to be a good singer as well as a thought-provoking...
