An Interesting, Eclectic Mix of Tunes

by A. Kadmon

Imagine Ray Davies (of the Kinks) and Syd Barrett (of early Pink Floyd) collaborating on a project: toss in a few dashes of alt-Country and a sprinkling of Glam and you will get an idea of what this collection sounds like. It is eclectic without being quirky. We need more artists out there who can "push the envelope" like this. There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be hearing "Lou Reed" on the radio right now.

A fantanstic album!!!

I agree very much with the first review. From the moment I purchased this album I haven't been able to stop listening! It's a fantastically eclectic mix of genres and is pure fun to listen to. I highly recommend it.

One of my favorite albums this year!

I know that the year has just begun, but I seriously don't get to listen to too many albums that start off great, and just keep getting better and better, and this is the case with Steve Ison's The Stars Are Never Really Distant. Seriously, this is like the Thriller or Hysteria of mature, contemporary alternative rock. Eclectic, but with a very consistent style and presentation, it has mature flavorings of Nick Drake and Marc Bolan, flair of Bowie and Reed, all contained nicely in a contemporary package -- playful, fun and beautiful.
