Not Crazy About It

by evThurobred

Band seems to have a loyal following, the lead singer is fashion fierce, but the sound? Very well produced and arranged for sure- the texture is awesome and it's really tight overall. The musicianship seems well done.

I guess it's the actual music (score/direction) I'm not partial to. I don't think the 'fusion' is appealing and I don't find it original. It's barely an offshoot from your run of the mill indie machine, which may be so entirely monotonous at this point that the Noisettes sound fresh. The music just isn't 'good' IMHO and it's too uninspiring to lead to anything.

The Change I Needed.

by Music.Minnesota

I had a stage where I would go around to different blogs, magazine websites, charts, etc. and I would look for new artists that had good sound and didn't have the "industry sound" a.k.a. Brittney Spears, Beyonce, Hannah Montana. Though all are talented in a way, some deep deep down, some clearly visible, I wanted something different. Almost like a totally different tone quality. When I came across the "Noisettes" it took some time to adjust to because it was very different than I was looking for, but I liked it a lot. I only have four songs on my iPod but I am looking forward to downloading more in the near future.
I have:
Scratch Your Name
Bridge to Canada (my favorite :))
Hierarchy
Sister Rosetta (Catch the Spirit)

A good thing about this album is there are different tones to each song. Scratch Your Name is loud while Hierarchy isn't as wild yet they both have great vocals and energy in the sound. This was definitaly (spl?) the change I needed.

Good Stuff

Playing ragged but energetic garage-influenced indie rock with the ferocity of punk but with a soulful, bluesy edge, the Noisettes were founded by guitarist Dan Smith and singer/bassist Shingai Shoniwa, who previously worked together in the band Sonarfly. While the pair already had a working relationship,...
