by ill.lit3rateWhether you like true Hip Hop or not, check this website/program/movie out. It's real life told through real voices speaking some of the most real lyrics I've herd in a long time. The movie documents a project started to help young kids in bad conditions take control of their life and emotions through music. These are the voices we should be hearing on our radios instead of all the repetitive club-bangers and wannabe g******g "ima kill you" crap (it's getting old).
Its Alright
by MCSoniI see the ambition behind this project: positive lyrics, a true story told for those who don't what its like in the streets as this documentary unfolds, and the inspirational message to touch those fellows who desire more to this life than financial and mental poverty.
In the end however, the project just lacks production prowess. Positive beats and rhymes, but there is a lack of polish to make the songs really inspiring. It feels the beats were rushed and the rhymes just too forced. The hooks are boring and too unbalanced for the songs beats.
Overall, its not bad, but its not good. It just needs polishing. Yet I know the documentary will be powerful in itself; a means to use hip-hop as a healer, not a crowd stealer.
