Songs + Strange People's Stories = Greatness

by pms25

This is one of those albums that works on multiple levels. On one hand, there's some killer songs (king of the bastards is AWEsome, as is innocence, impotent rage & skyline hotel) and you can drive down the road blaring these and having a great day.

On the other, seriously, the spoken bits are worth the price of the album alone. They're interesting, funny, and i could make a remix of the album with just those.

But put together, a greater work emerges, and with multiple listens i started to perceive just how much depth this album has, how much care went into what songs and spoken bits went where and the emotional trip it takes you on.

This is not bubblegum stuff. The songs are clever and concise, the spoken bits cool, touching and funny, but altogether this is like some kind of tom waits meets cake work with pink floyd-like album planning.

Yeah, tom waits meets cake with pink-floyd album planning. If that sound like your thing, not only should you totally get this album, but we should have a beer sometime.
