Love this recording.
by cdwetzelbergerI am very impressed with this record. What I dislike about a lot of classical music
is how sterilized and clinical the performances are on otherwise good pieces or the
dynamics seem artificial as if that were something that could be interpreted from
reading a musical score. Which either leads to lifeless sounding music or grossly
exaggerated dynamics to the point of being too quite to hear in some parts and too loud in
others.
Here that is avoided and the songs flow as if a human being is playing them with some
emotion and some thought to what emotion they should invoke. The effect is very pleasing.
This is classical music as it should be performed.
My Favorites are:
Elegie in E Flat Minor, Op.3, no. 1
Prelude in C sharp Minor, Op.3, no. 2
haha
by RM#91prelude in csharp minor was in lost
This is not a recording from the 1920s
by theherkmanIt is a recording of a recording of Rachmaninov. Rachmaninovs notes were captured on a piano role and recorded when replayed in the 1990s. They were then recorded at studio quality. You are listening to Rachmaninov in Stero. These Ampico recordings are the best in existence of Rachmaninov.
