One of the Greatest Live Opera Recordings
by nrswansonI was given this CD five years ago by a dear friend for my birthday who has never liked opera but knowing my tastes, randomly selected this CD for me in the hopes that is was good. All I can say is that luck must have been with him that day because this CD has become a regular in my music diet ever sense. Bartoli is at her best and most thrilling on this CD. The passion and musical sensitivity she displays is unparalled by any other singer recording today. Her vocal dexterity and rhythmic intensity and accuracy is unbelievably good. This is especially true in Vivaldi’s “Agitata da due venti” and Rossini’s “Riedi al soglio, Zelmira.” Bartoli has a wonderfully diverse repertoire from quiet serene songs like Schubert’s “La pastorella” to playful songs like Berlioz’s “Zaide” to the brilliantly bizarre “Canto negro” by Xavier Montsalvatge. Bartoli is a wonderfully expressive singer and is able to create may different vocal colors and moods which create a complex and emotionally deep performance. Her music is filled with an infectious energy that very few singers of any genre can match. This a must CD for all classical music lovers and I promise it will become an instant favorite.

by RionoirThis is the stuff Cecilia was born to sing. If you aren't going to get the whole album, then at least download track 5... it was practically written for Cecilia... freaking amazing. :)
