Gorgeous eccentricity

by BradPDX

A wonderful short set of covers. "Pocahontas" and "White Freightliner" are covered on the "Music from the Revelator Collection", but "Black Star" is the exception and the stand out. Emotionally wrenching with a beautiful broken guitar solo from Rawlings that belies the simple acoustic duet they are, this version tops Radiohead's own by leaps and bounds with the shear power of their delivery and solid musicianship.

Small, powerful and highly recommended.

I saw her at a Bright Eyes show!

One of the best Radiohead Covers. When i saw them preform this live, they did a better job than this version they got here. But I recommend it. This is one of the greatest Radiohead songs too.

Rivals the original

Not many people could pull this song off, but my god, Gillian Welch has the perfect tourted country voice with a blend of bluegrass and country to make this song into something that would even make Thom Yorke's ears perk up. There will be the Radiohead die-hards that will hate her for even attempting to cover the song, but if you can get past your bias, this song is simply stunning.
