AWESOME!!!

Stavesacre is the most awesome rock band ever and it makes them even more awesome that they are Christian (I'm pretty sure). My favorite song from this album is "Kill My Darlings." It rocks and is beastly.

I've always enjoyed Stavesacre...until this album...

Listen, I bought the 1st Stavesacre album when it first came out. I remember getting the Tooth and Nail catalog with the initial promo photos of the band and being so excited for the rock onslaught to commence. And like the God of Genesis, I said, "It is good." Many of the tracks on their second and third releases still rivet me, but this album is a disappointment. I have a hard time giving any single song on the album anything more than a middling rating, and often I find the songs sub-par. There is less rock and more bland rehashing of mainstream rock-ishness on this album than on any other Stavesacre album, and it points to a serious decline in inspiration.

I heard a rumor recently that the band was calling it quits, and inside my head, I had a mini-party because I didn't want the band to make another lame product. Unfortunately, I think those rumors were untrue, and instead of calling quits while there are still memories of guitar-crunching, face-melting awesomeness fresh in mind, I might--much to my dismay--be forced to listen to the next let-down from Stavesacre.

I've been a long time fan of Stavesacre (Even before that in the Crucified days), so I knew I'd pick up this album after it came out. But when I finally did get it, it totally blew my doors off! Soaring vocals thundering riffs, it was far and away a better album than the Stavesacre I'd already come to know and love.
