Fantastico!
by ParallaxErrorListen to this album five times and it will be one of your favorites forever. Lyrically far more complex than they seem at first, these songs (including Lop It Off; you just have to dig deeper for the meaning in a song with only three words) are an excellent showcase for Anton's smooth-as-bumpy-rubber vocals and surprisingly consistent and steady guitar licks (well, maybe strums more than licks). THIS is what indie is all about. In some ways, Drug Free (the album, not the song) comes from the same vibe as the first Paul McCartney solo album; authentically rough around the edges (Just Passing By), intentionally and purposefully self-indulgent (a 19-second ditty (Lop It Off) and a nearly 12-minute opus (In A Boat On the Sea), cleverish poetry doing double-duty as song lyrics and titles (Alphalpha Bhang), low key production that lets you hear what a live show might sound like (Leave It With Me...). And I'm calling Disco Dress a dance tune. I can already hear the Paul Oakenfold remix.

by bec.wMy favorites from this are "Drug Free" and "Leave It With Me, I'm Always Gentle." The songwriting combines snapshot detail with not-quite-nonsense imagery. At first listen, they're interesting and odd; every subsequent listen adds another dimension. Actually, the whole album works that way.
