Now if only we can revert todays hip-hop to this....
by XSatoHitoXHip-hop was always meant to tell a story. A poem of lyrical madness. This is what this is. This is what it should be...always. All this bs about hoars, drugs and money isnt cool. Especially the stupid dances! They all sound the same! Not only is most underground better than todays hip hop...by far, this is all we have left of the 80s and early 90s in a revelated form. There will come a day when underground will overthrow the mainstream. "Oh Zone", "Nothing Like this", "Simply a Joy" and "No $ No Toke" are like the best on this album.

Throw Stones in the Garbage
by math.hueI was always suspicious of Stones Throw - from the time when Jay Love Japan was released and Dilla's web page (AND myspace page) never made mention of it. I brushed it off, believing they're a business like any other so why would they promote an album on someone else's label (even if the artist is deceased and they're supposed to be for hip-hop as any hip-hop label should)? Bottom line is: they're a business. Okay, I understand that. But then after the countless reports of YouTube videos being removed at Stones Throw's request (uploaded by fans who just want hip-hop to live beyond album sales), the last straw was the countless amount of times I've emailed asking about the Dilla Shining hat/t-shirt and "JayDee& JDilla& DillaDawg& PayJay" t-shirts (still haven't received a response).
I can't help but get the impression that they don't truly care about Dilla's legacy but they're only out to make paper. Seems as if things that don't involve their direct financial gain won't receive Stones Throw's support.
Although, I could be wrong, its just my perception.
