ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ALBUM
by mr.brandonsommerI want more! Keep it coming! ROCK!
Interesting...
by Bluesky 11I liked a couple songs especially Sundazed and Moon Oar Sunrise. But from reading the reviews I thought the music would be a little more relaxing. If you thought like me, it's not relaxing.
Melodic Meditation in Action!
by Bhakti BrophyThe other morning I way laying in bed when I decided to turn on WFMU (free form radio station out of New Jersey, USA). A song was playing in which all I heard was guitar feedback. I listened for a while. It sounded almost--but not quite--like perhaps the Edge was sitting around in the studio and decided to record himself while noodling with the delay pedal and massive reverb. But then I heard a voice: no words, just a voice--kind of like Quwaali singing. I knew what the songwriter was doing; he was playing music straight from his soul and letting his voice take the song where it wanted/needed to go. This is no small feat. After about a minute I was hooked; completely mesmerized. I got out of bed and turned on my receiver (the transistor radio I was listening to on my bed wasn't doing the song justice). This was no regular song: this was a spiritual mantra mastered by the singer songwriter. The name of the song is Moon Oar Sunrise. I've been a lifetime meditator and I can honestly tell you that this song let me go as deep into my Self (with a 'capital' S) as any recorded mantra I've ever listened to that has been recorded by a spiritual master. The entire album contains spacious, time-dispelling pieces of the songwriter's own existence. There is a real sense of eternity in the 'songs' (I use the word 'song' lightly). I feel honored that Hisham Akira Bharoocha--the sole instrumentalist/vocalist/songwriter on this album has shared this seemingly incredibly personal musical experience. He creates an ambience so REAL that I can only hope to god no one labels it as 'New Age'. It's NOT New Age, it is to deep to be labeled as such. Perhaps we've heard music similar to this (think Brian Eno), but I haven't heard much that sounded so raw, yet so eternal. I played guitar for 27 years: in other words, I know and love music. This is good music and so much more. Five Stars.
