On Call made me fall in love with Kings of Leon

Quite a step forward
by lakeicychill"On Call" is a great step forward for Kings of Leon. On first listen, it reminded me a bit of prime Afghan Whigs circa "Gentlemen", which is a classic post-grunge album. The Followill brothers have mined similar American Gothic territory as Greg Dulli has, but have not yet touched upon some of the darker emotional themes. "On Call" hints at something more sinister at play, but still retains the KOL tradmark sound of skittery guitars and sparse bass and drums. I'm hoping the new album is a strong as this teaser is.
