Album Review

Where Fear and Faith Collide saw Michael Olson prove his musical chops, two years after his debut album on Rocketown received a warm welcome from Christian radio. The album leaves the door open for more musical experimentation on future releases, yet Olson deviates very little from his formula. For this reason, Olson was criticized for not taking more creative liberties and sounding too much like the adult contemporary pop/rock of MercyMe and Steven Curtis Chapman. Yet, lyrically and musically, the album celebrates leaps of faith. Olson seems more confident that his acoustic-based pop has found a devoted following. He takes charge with steadier rock tracks like "If You Can Stop the World" and "God Is with Us," the latter of which soars with a dynamic Hallelujah chorus. Again, he shows a high quality of songwriting for a relative newcomer, yet seems to hold back just enough for the listener to wonder what he might do next.

Good Sophmore Album

Michael Olson's debut album Long Arm Of Love was not very good, however in my book he redeems himself with Where Fear and Faith Collide. This is a melodic pop album.

If You Can Stop The World is a song about God's Great Love for you, "that no matter what you've done or what you try to do" you will always have God's love, unless you "can stop the world from spinning."

Unchanged reminds us that no matter how much the world around you changes and falls apart, God never will...He doesn't change.

Drawing Nearer is about the most beautiful day that we all await, the day that Jesus our sweet Savior comes back for us, and that "what you've known by faith you'll know by sight." Michael Olson's vocals are wonderful

Wonderful Album!

I really enjoy this quality debut album of Michael Olson! I just had to have "Our First Love" when I heard it, and I enjoy other songs like "On the Third Day." I really enjoy his vocals, lyrics, and music! "Our First Love" is such a beautiful, glorious song!
