Gifts and Burdens, and more gifts from a talented artist
by Kristy EwingHolly has really come into her own with this album. She has found her own unique voice and knows how to pair it with strings. One song makes you a little moody, a little sad, the next makes you smile, but all of them take you someplace deep in your nostalgic and sensitive heart. Such is the trademark of a true artist. A little bit "country", a little bit "folk", a little bit 'New Seattle' (is it in the water, the rain, or the coffee?). While other songs on this album rate higher in iTunes, my personal favorite is Mary, Mary, also titled Forgiven.
A Gift
by OzmiesterHolly's music is something special. It moves me in the same way Neil Young's Harvast and Lucinda Williams' Car Wheels on a Gravel Road does. If you are in the Seattle area, you may get the real treat of seeing her live, maybe at the famous Seattle dive bar, The Sunset or while enjoying food from the Wild Ginger at the Triple Door. Visit her Myspace page to see where she'll be in '08. You won't be disappointed.
A True Jem!
by Rizn PhnxI was first introduced to Holly O'Reilly (Figueroa) via mySpace and was immediately hooked. The lyrics are amazing, and her voice is a perfect match to the music. Her previous albums were much more harsh a la Ani DiFranco, but this new sound is exactly what I love in a folk/country artist. Any fans of Allison Krauss or the like MUST own this album!
