oh. my. god. just BRILLIANT!!!
by dcbabyBefore today, I had never heard of this band, or Oki. I saw them perform tonight at the Kennedy Center in DC and was absolutely stunned. This band blew me away - I can't find the words. The songs from their set tonight aren't available on iTunes, according to the info I have Oki has more than 10 albums to his credit, so it looks as though I'll be doing some searching online to get the others. The audience tonight stayed fairly serene during the performance but I can imagine these guys playing at a festival and getting the crowd really worked up..melodic, atmospheric, mellow dub combined with an almost rock/trance element, and an instrument I'd never heard of - the tonkori. I'm delighted iTunes has this in their catalog and urge anyone to give them a listen. I can't recommend highly enough!

Personally, Topattumi and Samaikur Inkar Chashi stand out but the entire album is extremely well-crafted and well worth the price to download.
