Great album, great music! For those who are buying this to replace their vinyl version: beware, the album sold on iTunes does not include one of the original tracks (Making History). As well, the track order is not the same as the original release. That would probably be fine if this was a re-mastered release...but, it's not. Still great music (good to bring back some fond memories).

A Really Really Good Album...Really

How hard is it to convince the uniniated that this is a good album—and who could blame them after some of the silliness that followed this collection? I bought this when it came out on LP and later on CD and it was tough to try to turn people on to this music in the late 80s, after Adam had slithered around TV half naked. But this is a true classic. Sure there's a little bit of the silliness here (check the lyrics in the title track), but this is Adam and the Ants NOT the Adam Ant of the MTV "Strip" videos. Although this is the groundwork for his Adam Ant success, the songs here are much closer to punk rock, more Bow Wow Wow in flavor, and really very cool. Check out Press Darlings, Physical, and the freaky Sci-Fi Ants Invasion. There's plenty of solid guitar work, punchy percussion (the Burundi drum sound that was just so cool at the time), and plenty of punk rock commentary and honesty folded into clever fun sing-able lyrics. It's kind of fun to listen to this CD and put it all in perspective. Here was a bunch of punks that found a way to invade the commercial music scene in the U.S. and make a killing! As this album rose on the north American horizon like a pirate ship with Adam and the Ants waving swords and shouting "It's your money that we want and your money we shall have!" (Jolly Roger), who could have envisioned how true that would become. They came, they conquered, and made off with the booty.
