iTunes Review
Style is substance on this sometimes-dazzling pastiche of nearly every hipster motif from the ‘60s onwards. The Dandys delight in boiling down the clichés of jet-set ennui into an appealing set of mannerisms, served up with brittle guitars, frosty synthesizers, and glistening grooves. Frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor radiates a benumbed authority worthy of Transformer-era Lou Reed, whether he’s delivering a stinging kiss-off (“We Used to Be Friends”), embracing his inner android (“Scientist”), or preening with a tear on his cheek (“The Last High”). His bandmates play with dry yet supple precision, veering from the astringent trash-rock of the title tune into the quivering, Tones on Tail-like miasma of “(You Come In) Burned” with the same nonchalance. The faux-soul of “Rock Bottom” and the falsetto-laced bubblegum of “The Dandy Warhols Love Almost Everyone” are oddly endearing. Co-producers Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran) and Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T-Rex) help keep the camp from getting claustrophobic. Monkey House is sly, subversive fun.

The Dandy Warhols ROCK!
by PepsinCokei love the song We Used to Be Friends. it has a great tune and I can listen to this song all day and not get tired of it.
Still Fun To listen to
by GoonyFuzztoneClatterAll bands have a work that stands as their high water mark. Work such as Who's Next, American Beauty, Monster, London Calling. et al. As for the Dandy Warhols, much like The Doors, their high tide came in too soon. Welcome To The Monkey House is yet another attempt at the greatness of Come Down. Monkey House sounds like a nihilist disco. Instead of the mirror ball, a dim, low-wattge bulb burns for no apparent reason. Please don't get me wrong, Monkey house is a fun listen. Just not one you,ll come back to with the frequency of Come Down.
YES YES YES
by shesaid hesaidI actually got this album from my brother on my birthday, and started listening right on through, already immensely enjoying the music before the first song, "Welcom to the Monkey House," ended. Some songs on this album are more chill, like "Insincere," "Heavenly," and "You Come In Burned." More lively songs include "Plan A," "Wonderful You," and "We Used to Be Friends."
Personal album favorite: "The Last High" or "I Am Over It."
All in all, great album that works for most of my moods.
BUT! I hope I am not alone when I say that iTunes made a serious mistake in not having The Dandy's album "Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia." BRING IT BACK!
