iTunes Review
Thirty-plus years into a career that has slowed considerably in the last decade, Rush still deliver epic rock grandeur without compromise. Judiciously amending their sound to the times, the power trio has evolved without sacrificing what made them so groundbreaking and powerful in the first place. Snakes and Arrows comes five years after their previous studio effort, 2002’s Vapor Trails, and like that release sticks with a guitar-heavy attack punctuated by the ambitious, polyrhythmic drumming of Neil Peart. As expected, Peart’s lyrics deal with his obsessions on government, spirituality, human will and nature that are often more fun and informative to read on a sheet than to sing aloud. Though clunky in execution — the multi-syllabic words sound even more clinical with Geddy Lee’s over-articulate delivery — they take on ominous weight in light of world events in the new millennium and, more importantly, in balance with the group’s exciting arrangements. There's heart-thumping drama throughout “Far Cry,” “Armor and Sword,” acoustic-electric weaving in “The Larger Bowl,” and the near sci-fi, action film downward spiral of “Spindrift.” It’s unusual for a group of such duration to still come within spitting distance of their finest work so many years on, but Rush continue to defy all expectations in their stubborn, steady way.

Great Work
by BigManThornRush does it again. This album is awsome. Although you can get this at Wal-Mart or Best Buy for a lot less. Oh and to the guy looking for Rush songs with Depth and meaning listen to Vapor Trails you jerk.
It's Rush, take it or leave it.
by deezerdMy, but we Rush fans are a persnickety lot - one thing that NEVER changes after 30-plus years, judging by the posted reviews ... And yet the guys keep on doing what they do, when and as suits them, as if to tell us we're all maybe missing the point? Myself, I'd about written them off from *Roll The Bones* onward, so it was a pleasant shock to get back on board with *Vapor Trails* and discover a recharged, fully rocking Rush I didn't know I'd missed. (Not to mention the sheer fun of the *Feedback* EP.)
And so here they are with the latest installment. Doesn't sound like the previous record, but it's undeniably Rush ... stunningly played, somewhat better recorded this time out, and rather more adventurously written. I'm impressed with Neil Peart's willingness to cover deeper emotional ground in recent years, something that didn't happen much in years past. All my favorite songs on the record - "Faithless", "Spindrift", "The Larger Bowl" and "Good News First" - are fine examples.
I could've done without some of the more self-indulgent instrumentals (e.g. "The Main Monkey Business") but hey ... having followed these guys since about 1980, I'll humor them. Just as long as they keep on being Rush, and we get to keep listening.
Rush!!!!!!!!!!!
by hi my name is @#&%$(Far Cry is heavenly and (maybe) the best song by Rush. Other good ones are tracks 3,7,9,10,11,12,13. In other words the middle is terrible, but the first part & last part are good. Oh yeah and tracks 2 and 8 are okay. Go Rush! :-)
