iTunes Review

Sky Blue Sky is Wilco's first studio album with guitar-whiz Nels Cline on board and instead of further pursuing the abstract experimentation that had given the band an unexpected edginess with 2002's Yankee Foxtrot Hotel and 2004's A Ghost Is Born, Wilco have opted to weave Cline into the group's sonic fabric much more tastefully with well-placed spotlights — the solos capping "Impossible Germany" and "Side With the Seeds" — that help the band come across as one smooth FM-radio vehicle. If anything, the addition of Autumn Defense's Pat Sansone seems even more relevant. Sansone's early-‘70s styled keyboards and handle on soothing, sugary harmonies are everywhere throughout, as "Hate It Here" and the mellotron-laced "Leave Me (Like You Found Me)" best accentuate. As for Tweedy? He sounds remarkably well adjusted, sporting his Grateful Dead-like mellow for the title track and "You Are My Face." As Neil Young has certainly taught us, sometimes the greatest artistic stretch has less to do with reaching for the next galaxy than moving a few rocks around to see what more you can unearth.

How Songwriting Should Be

by NMentillo

This cd is the closest I have come to hearing anything like what the Beatles put out in thier later years, minus the tounge and cheek atmosphere that the Beatles did so well. The smooth song writing and confidence that Wilco displays on this album is something that only true experienced musicians can pull off. With all these glowing reviews you may not agree with the first listen, but this album grew from the back of my mind as a decent album from a good band, to one of the best albums I have heard in this decade. Truly Tweedy and the group is doing something right and from someone who usually likes edgier and heavier albums, this album delievers musicality that most bands today don't have a clue about. Buy it, listen to it, and decide on your own, and hopefully you'll come to the same conclusions as most everybody else about this album, that it truly is a gem and that it can only get more praise from here on out.

Sky Blue Sky

Sky Blue Sky is a great album for any fan of alternative or folk music. This is my first Wilco album and I love it. This album introduces to a little more guitar than previous Wilco albums, but in no way shape or form is that a bad thing. Some of my favorites are: Impossible Germany, Sky Blue Sky, Shake It Off, You Are My Face, Either Way, What Light, and On and On. So that's pretty much the whole album. If you are into Wilco at all well you cannot go wrong with this album. A terrific cd.

Probably the best CD I have bought in the last couple years, but boy, Jeff Tweedy sure does make me miss John Lennon.

Wilco rose from the ashes of the seminal roots rockers Uncle Tupelo, who disbanded in 1994.
