Energetic and Amazing!!

I've seen Flatfoot 56 play 4 times and I'm never left disappointed. This album is energetic and has one of the best usage of bagpipes that I have ever heard!

I love this cd!

One of my all time faves! This band is good, but even better in concert. I've seen them twice and I look forward to seeing them again. I can't wait for the new album coming out this Fall. These guys are the best!

Celtic Punk At Its Best

by Ian Savino

The young crew of four from Southside of Chicago are back again with Flicker Records with only good things to report. Though most reviews here on iTunes are biased towards the band, I can only say this band has truly evolved since their earlier record: Knuckles Up. The most evident from the beginning is the crisp and clear sound through my ears that allows for the ironic clash of chaos and composure that other Oi! Rock bands have seemed to swing and miss in their LPs. The intro is among the few in my book that seem worth listening to before rushing the listener into Carry 'Em Out, and straight through the swinging bagpipes of Loaded Gun that prove in lyrics to hold their strong Christian beliefs that resounded through their earlier album.

Other tracks to mention include the lighthearted Hoity Toity with interesting words to consider, the hardhitting mandolin slamming Chinatown Jail Break which never ceases to be a crowd pleaser at concerts, and my personal favorite Ollie Ollie which is both catchy and still keeping to the fast paced action that flatfoot is known for.

Though it quickly winds down with the short and sweet Standin' for Nothing, as well as their album track Jungle of the Midwest Sea that continues in its strong influence of mandolin sound, it is understandable that beating the popular Amazing Grace that concluded Knuckles Up so well is very difficult. Same Ol' Story tells a tale of one of the members struggle with his faith in Christ and how regardless of how beaten down he was, the Father's hand held tight the way through. Flatfoot 56 is my favorite oxymoron of them all, the oh so humbling punk rock band that continues to shine light on the dark world we live in; and Jungle of the Midwest Sea truly epitomizes the band in every way possible. A must buy for any Celtic/Punk/Oi Rock lover, 5 stars no doubt.
