iTunes Review
Ryan Adams released three albums in 2005, issued a ton of musical and parodic scraps at his website in 2006, and finally returned in June 2007 with his ninth proper album, the deliberately restrained Easy Tiger. Backed by the Cardinals, it’s 13 tunes, all but one under the three-and-a-half minute mark, kept stylistically close to the alt.country rock for which he is best known and appreciated (“Two,” “Everybody Knows,” “I Taught Myself How To Grow Old”). Adams occasionally indulges his Jeff Buckley vocal flights of fancy for the four-plus minute “The Sun Also Sets” and the years have mellowed him somewhat, making his presentations occasionally less the light shuffling Nashville Skyline Bob Dylan than American Beauty-era Grateful Dead. But he’s still lyrically precise and the orchestrated drama fueling “Rip Off” recalls the ambition of the mid-70s countrypolitan sound, while the Nashville-meets-L.A. ‘70s radio pop of “Two Hearts” bounces to the easy sway of the Eagles under the influence of Roy Orbison.

gotta_hear_it
by gotta_hear_itRyan Adams is one of my favorite artists, and he doesn't disappoint here. His excellent lyrics combined with his (and his band's) superb musicianship make this a must have for fans of acoustic-based rock. Reminds me a lot of Neil Young (at his best), as well as relative newcomers Ray Lamontagne and Frederick Schmitt.

by Gina Villalobosfinally another ryan record i am into. yay ry!
I agree with Llor 'N Kco
by Elizabeth70I am a big fan of some Ryan Adams including much of Pneumonia, Cold Roses, Cardinology and his contribution to Trinity Revisited by the Cowboy Junkies. At his best, I love his voice and his songwriting.
I do not like this album. I think his voice sounds terrible.
I agree with Llor 'N Kco's review right down to the comment about the wonderful version of Goodnight Rose on the Henry Rollins Show. If I had read that review and taken it to heart, I would not have bought this album. If this had been the first Ryan Adams album I had heard, I would not have checked out his other music.
I am giving Easy Tiger two stars, but only because I like some of his other music so much.
