Matter of Perspective

by Eversworn

Doyle's work is some of my most personal favorite in classical soundtracks, and I can admit that this is not one of his best. It does have its strong points, such as the intricate violin pieces in "Escape from Capri" and "Sword Play Romance," as well as the mysterious, magical feel in both "Escape from Capri" and "Secret Sword" that was present in many of the excellent tracks from Eragon such as "Ra'zac," "Fortune Teller," and "Battle for Varden." However, The Last Legion has too much of a "heroic" feel that completely dashes the sweeping and powerful pieces of Doyle's other scores (Eragon, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and to a lesser extent, Nim's Island).
One can say that heroic is their type, but I personally prefer a more mystic feel to my music, and if you feel the same way then check out his other magnificent scores! - I promise they are way better, and do not judge Doyle off this album.

I'm sick to my stomach of all the Excalibur and King Arthur films -- Hollywood does know that there's other mythologies.... right?

This score is literally the same as the rest of the other films listed above. Nothing new; with the repitition of Bush's approval rating -- always declining. Never will enjoy this soundtrack, nope, never will.

Don't buy this terrible score.

Excellent!!

This was a great soundtrack! It went perfectly with the movie and is great stand alone. It is similar to Eragon. This was a great work by Doyle. If you are a fan of Doyle than buy this now. If you aren't than think about it. If you're one of the people who like hear chorals all the way through the soundtrack than don't buy this. But this is truly a work of art!
