Touches all your senses

This is one of my favorite albums ever! Everything about it just perfect. The deep, warm sound samples are gently massaging all your senses. I also recommend this album if you want to test your new hifi.

Delicious grooves within

This is one lush, beautiful, awesome album. Crosses deep electronica with some serious blues & gospel overtones.

In reality, this is two entirely different versions of a single album. One forward, in your face, rhythmic and attention grabbing. The other ambient, yet still entrancing and often hauntingly beautiful.

Delicious stuff.

Go Beyond The Surface!

You have to hear this. No, I mean it! It's impossible to get a sense of what this music is about from the 2 sec. preview itunes gives you. And it's even harder to classify this album into a genre...which is also alluring. Many will say this is electo-blues and while that's certainly a large part of the canvas there is so much more: classical, ambient, middle eastern, rock, electronic noise. The blues singer, Joe Richardson is fantastic, and his lyrics are dark, sexy, and violent. Prey is classic and Allelujah is brilliantly euphoric and spiritual. The killing ground is a phenomenal mix of genres but an overall fantastic dance track with mind numbing HELLicopters and troop commander embracing violence on the battlefield. Your speakers will practically melt and disintigrate! Almost every track on SubHuman is a brilliant standalone work...but the real magic is the work as a whole. Give it time. Listen from start to finish and you will be rewarded with the most visual music I've heard in many years. Alan Wilder, a mastermind behind the Depeche Mode sound pallate for many years has delivered his finest work here. The best compliment I can give is that this music rings true. There isn't one moment where the music sounds like it's trying or overreaching. It's brutally honest and exhillarating. This is music by a man totally immersed sound and dynamictension.

After officially splitting from Depeche Mode in 1995, longtime member Alan Wilder finally went ahead with his side project Recoil. Wilder started Recoil in 1985, but efforts were halfhearted due to his responsibilities with DM. But despite such conflicts of interest, Recoil issued a set of early demos...
