iTunes Review
Heaven & Hell is actually the post Ozzy Osbourne-Bill Ward line-up of Black Sabbath with singer Ronnie James Dio and drummer Vinny Appice, who recorded two definitive albums, Heaven & Hell and The Mob Rules in the early ‘80s and a third release Dehumanizer in 1992. This 2007 reunion gig at Radio City Music Hall in New York City includes two new tracks, the epic “The Devil Cried” and “Shadow of the Wind,” but the real treasures are the immediate post-Ozzy Sabbath classics, “Neon Knights,” “Heaven and Hell,” “Voodoo,” “The Sign of the Southern Cross,” and “The Mob Rules” where the band takes a no-nonsense approach, understanding that the primal power of guitarist Tony Iommi’s powerchords, Geezer Butler’s thick, often fuzzed bass and Vinny Appice’s dexterous, precise drums are all to support one of the most forceful voices in all of hard rock. Ronnie James Dio will never have Osbourne’s peculiar singular zombied style, but instead establishes the hard rock archetype so many others have imitated. The success of this live reunion led to their decision to record new material under this new name.

huh?
by Fred VegasI like the first two Dio/Sabbath albums (I've never heard anything off of Dehumanizer). I've always liked Dio's voice. But he doesn't sound like Dio anymore. Not his fault. Singing voices deteriorate with age and with wear and tear. So when I read reviews that say Dio sounds better than ever I really have to question what people are hearing. Stick with the studio recordings if you want to hear Dio at his full power.
Awesome
by Metal JamesI saw Heaven and Hell at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO on 8/15/09. They were amazing. I got this album to relive the awesome time I had. The only difference is some songs were added and some were taken away because of the release of their new album. But this concert and the concert I saw were amazing. Buy this now! Dio is God!
Amazing Live Performance
by metalicizerThis is one of the best live recordings ever. The whole band sounds great, at the top of their game. The way Dio interacts with the audience makes it seem like you're there. Appice and Geezer hold the backline well, and Tony can still make the riffs sound classic. His solos are great, with wah that sounds like a strangled duck. The entire performance was great. If you haven't already gotten the entire album, do so RIGHT NOW!!! You do yourself a disservice to only get a couple songs. If you're a metal fan who only buys one or two albums a year, this better be one of them. If you buy all the albums you want in year, buy this one anyway. This disc proves that Black Sabbath isn't going to quit, and are just as good as in the 70's. Here's to another 10 years! ;-)
