iTunes Review

Star-studded isn’t too strong a phrase to apply to Anne Murray’s Duets – Friends & Legends album. This 2008 release pairs the much-loved country/pop songstress with an impressively diverse roster of female singing partners and Murray rises to the occasion, revealing some underexposed sides to her familiar vocal persona. When harmonizing with k.d. lang and Martina McBride (on “A Love Song” and “Danny’s Song,” respectively), Murray comes across as regal and serene. Pairings with Shelby Lynn (“You Won’t See Me”) and Nelly Furtado (“Daydream Believer”) allow her to loosen up and get exuberant. Emmylou Harris’ high, keening edge lends fullness to Murray’s rich alto on “Another Pot O’ Tea,” while Sarah Brightman’s cultivated tones transform “Snowbird” into an elegant Victorian aria. Anne shines amidst this mixed company, getting folksy with the Indigo Girls on “A Little Good News” and sharing a moment of pop grandeur with Celine Dion on “When I Fall In Love.” All told, Murray sounds invigorated on Duets, shining brightly among a select galaxy of stellar talent.

Perfect for that melancholy evening

All these songs are absolutely engulfing! The kind of music where you can light one up, grab a glass of wine, and reflect. I am a big huge fan of Emmylou Harris, so I was unexpectedly surprised to find her here on this remarkable album. Of course I'm usually partial to Emmylou when it comes to Duet albums (and she's been on a few) however, here it is absolutely hands down the best song on here. I challenge anyone to buy Another Pot of Tea, and tell me it is not the best one on here. You have to listen to the whole thing. Nonetheless, any song you buy will be well worth it, of course, it's Anne!!!

WOW ! She's Better Now !

I've always enjoyed Anne's singing and style. However, this "duets" is exceptional. Her voice has gotten better with age. Do stop and take a few minutes and you'll probably buy the album. It's a deal when you consider the talent involved here. Thank You for your time.

Not Worth It

What is the point? Every single one of these remakes is a pale shadow of the original. Murray's voice is weaker and the guest artists provide nothing new. I suggest you stick with the original versions of these songs.
