Management vs. Labor... vs. Joe!
by Proposition PeteOstensibly a series of lectures from Boyd Vigil's year at Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, "The Inevitable Course of Events" is actually a personal tour through this iconoclast's Zelig-like career. Infamous for being in the wrong place at the right time, Boyd Vigil regales each audience with gripping tales and bawdy anecdotes. Don't neglect the gem buried at the end of the final track: a live recording of his legendary 1986 speech to striking mineworkers in La Paz. Si se puede, indeed!
New Style from JBV
by CobackTICOE is somewhat different from JBV's other albums, but it's overall a great experimentation on his part of a new sound. I think electronica fans new to JBV will love this and his other albums not just for their creativity, but for the melodic depth each song has. Not to knock other artists but you won't find a twenty-second-long track on any of JBV's albums that's just an impressive display of fast and furious rhythmic patterns: each piece is a cohesive story by itself, and to me, that's what puts Joe Boyd Vigil, and TICOE itself for that matter, a cut above the rest in the industry.
Bottom line: if you like any of the tracks, help him make more of this great music and buy the album!!!

With the musical blessings of analog synth sounds, Joe knows how to tweak and manipulate sound waves far beyond the present day digital norm. Music that keeps you spellbound with sound not of this earth! With mysterious sound envelopes that seem to roll down from a hills dark horizon creeping slowly toward you right through your soul. (Thats a good thing!) Just sit back and enjoy the phenomenal cosmic ride as Joe Boyd Vigil takes control of his starship and hyper warps you to galaxies you've never been!
