iTunes Review

After a four-year wait, Omaha’s The Faint released Fasciinatiion which they produced, wrote, recorded, and art-directed entirely, and which carries a number of themes, all related in some way to the idea of personal discovery, obsession, and the future. There’s a healthy dose of caution, as well: the first single, “The Geeks Were Right,” a smooth, catchy number with crisp guitars and distorted basslines, warns — from a future date —  that the geeks were right about our obsession with technology: “Predator skills, chemical wars, plastic islands at sea / watch what the humans ruin with machines.” The glossy, punk-disco number, “Get Seduced” addresses our fascination with celebrities and our penchant for living vicariously through them, and the churning, machine rhythms of “A Battle Hymn for Children” explores our obsession with violence, comparing real war to “violent games on pause at home.” As far as thought provoking dance music goes, the Faint are still tops, although your footwork may be slowed a bit by the burden of the weighty lyrics.  Not quite as easy to latch onto as, say, most of Danse Macabre, but give it some time.

Revived my love affair with The Faint

By far, their BEST album! I briefly listened to it when I bought this album last year and then recently, I was cleaning my basement and put my ipod on shuffle when I came across it again. I haven't been able to get it out of my head ever since... I am so glad I re-found this album!

Same Old Great Band!

by Andrew!

I've been a huge fan of The Faint since the 6th grade (I'm 19 now) and started off with them since Media. I finally got to see them play along with Moving Units (My other favorite since 7th grade) last night and let me tell you, they're THE most amazing band I've ever seen live, and that's saying a lot. I haven't heard this CD at all and they played some of the songs off of it and they totally blew my mind! I had to buy this CD first thing in the morning! Mirror Error was my favorite song other than of course Glass Danse last night! Such Talent!
