Great live EP, lots of variety! A must buy for everyone of all ages!

If you've never heard Suzanne Vega, or have only heard the radio hits, this is a great primer. While the above reviewer is correct that the omission of any recent songs is a crime, this ep is a beauty. <Ugh.>

"iTunes Live: London Festival '08" includes great trio arrangements of some classic Suzanne Vega songs. "Rock In This Pocket" and "Tom's Diner" are very refreshing if you've been listening to those album versions for years. Also includes a duet arrangement of the first Suzanne song I ever heard, "Left of Center", from the classic Pretty In Pink soundtrack. Of course iTunes has included her enormous hit "Luka", her bread and butter song for many years. The album is rounded out with a couple of Suzanne's most beautiful classics, "The Queen and The Soldier" and "Gypsy". Interesting to hear "Gypsy" sung by a woman, so many years after it was written by a girl. I love this EP, and I love Suzanne Vega. And you should too, so buy this cheap ep and "gift it" to everyone you know. Baby needs a new pair of shoes!

Everything from Suzanne is top-notch!

Lovely to have a new live recording from Suzanne, although it's a shame this EP doesn't include anything from her most recent (and classic) album "Beauty & Crime". Does anyone know the full set-list of the iTunes Live show? The highlights here are the rarely-performed "Rock In This Pocket" and the live remix version of "Tom's Diner". Looking forward to Suzanne's solo acoustic recordings of her classic songs, which she will be releasing later this year through her website.

Genre: Contemporary Folk

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s

Suzanne Vega was the first major figure in the bumper crop of female singer/songwriters who rose to prominence during the late '80s and '90s. Her hushed, restrained folk-pop and highly literate lyrics (inspired chiefly by Leonard Cohen, as well as Lou Reed and Bob Dylan) laid the initial musical groundwork...
