Album Review

While Matt Redman isn't the household contemporary Christian name that Michael W. Smith or Steven Curtis Chapman are, he's responsible for some of the most beloved modern worship tunes, including "The Heart of Worship" and "Better Is One Day." He's certainly in a happy worship mode on this collection, which balances sizzling fire-rockers like "Making Melody" and the less-riveting, more plodding, but still quite sincere "Making Melody." Because worship songs praise God no matter what, listening to this while going through trying times may be a Job-like experience — "Blessed be the name of the Lord" whatever the cost. While hardly saying anything new (or that wasn't written in a Psalm by the ancients), his sweet but simple approach reflects the more positive side of Christianity and is his charm. It wouldn't be a surprise to see a few of the better tunes here turned into songs for worship bands to tackle.

The best is "Call to Worship"

by Elementary Penguins Kicking E.A.Poe

I'm really dissapointed that so few people have heard of this really powerful piece. Call to Worship uses the imagery of a pilgramage to Jerusalem and the mountain of the Lord. "LORD I stand on your merciful ground, and with every step tread with reverance." This is very good songwriting. One of my favorite worship songs of all time. Another good song here is "Blessed Be Your Name".

Awesome Worshiper!!!

I used to listen to old songs choir like worship song, their really classic and awesome, but when I recently hear latest music and songs that were created by the new generation, I feel more like I can relay, and to realized that I wanted a heart like Matt Redman, he's an awesome worshiper, I think in this life you can do a lot of things for God's Kingdom but I think having a heart and knowing how to give all out and pour out worship to God would be the best thing. though you're being attack like non-stop attack by the enemies if you have a worshiper heart you would keep on worshiping God no matter what. That's why I think it's awesome.....

The light and passionate sounds of Matt Redman are even more endearing when you know that he writes his own material, something that few pop artists really do. Taking the CCM market by surprise with The Friendship & the Fear in 1998, he revealed himself to be a good singer as well as a thought-provoking...
