This album is great!
by eilatan42I really love the song Mad World. It's really simple and beautiful, which makes it a good song to listen to over and over again. I like Michael Andrew's version of the song much better than the original one by Tears for Fears, because this version highlights the depth of the song and the intensity of the lyrics. The lyrics have a lot meaning and show deep feelings which are highlighted by the lack of background sound. The original song is faster and less serious, and adds more instruments which takes away the simplicity. My favorite part of the song is after the first chorus, when the cello part starts. The cello part adds a background sound that matches well, without being exactly the same. Also, I can remember my first day of kindergarten and relate to what the song says about going to school. Gary Jules was a perfect choice to sing the song, because his voice sounds great all by itself. The other songs on this album are great too. The creepier songs are my favorites, especially Manipulated Living. I like Middlesex Times and Waltz in the 4th Dimension also, both have a distorted feel and ooze suspense. Middlesex Times reminds me of some of the music from Tim Burton’s films, like the credits at the beginning of “Edward Scissorhands.” All of the instrumental songs are good, and paint a scene in your head. I only own Mad World but the other songs are worth purchasing, especially if you have seen the movie.

by FeuertechnikerI must say, I don't like the Adam Lambert version as much, it sounds too... Happy. The emotion conveyed in Gary Jules' rendition of Mad World is much more down to earth and amplified. At least it seems this way to me. On another note, this movie was one of the best movies I have ever seen. The score was spot on, the acting was amazing, and the cast was a huge success. If you haven't seen Donnie Darko yet, I highly recommend it.
