iTunes Review

At its core, Vheissu is a textbook case of modern-hard circa 2005: careful, layered production that marshals power with bludgeoning, steamroller rhythms, crunchy distorted guitars, and waves of vocals that harmonize or chant in unison, expressing rage, discontent, and an earnest belief in a better world. Ballads are over-dipped in melodrama (“Atlantic”) and rockers are tweaked to the boiling point (“The Earth Will Shake”). Yet this Orange County quartet has reached beyond the usual stylistic cues for their fourth studio album. Producer Steve Osborne (Massive Attack, U2) used the spacious live room at Bearsville Studio in upstate New York to ensure that the group didn’t merely end up with a sanitized, disconnected slab of digital technology. Instead, Osborne has pushed forth a band desperate to reach anthemic heights. “For Miles” ripples with grandiose dreams as it peels off its sonic layers. However, the band still has a ways to go before they completely lose their “shredder” tag, as the generic attack of “Hold Fast Hope” points out.

Greatest Album Of All Time

by Thricelover

So, i may be biased, but in my opinion, this is the best album of all time. I for the first time listened to their song image of the invisible and knew instantly it was life changing. Since buying the album multiple times more than 4 years ago thrice has become a passion of mine. Their lyrics changed me. But ok here we go. My review:

Image of the Invisible (9/10) This is an anthem. It makes me want to pump my fist. I would say the drumming on this song is perfect along with the vocals. Great start to the album, makes your blood pump.
Between the end and where we lie (10/10): when i first heard this song it was definitely a different kind of song. But i love the message of grace. This song needs more credit. one of my favorites along with my favorite lyric ever "i look for exits in the haze, the dense electric twilight maze". Amazing
The Earth Will Shake (10/10): now some people have said they stole the idea for this song from ISIS but i don't care, the chain gang effect is awesome. Drums once again are on cue and perfect. This song is the reason i went to see them live, a great show. The end is very memorable and aggressive.
Atlantic (11/10): In my opinion, this is thrices masterpiece. Imagery, atmosphere, emotion, etc truly beautiful. The song is gentle, watery, and flowing.
For miles (9/10) This is one of those powerful songs that you remember, but it’s not a single, it doesn't appeal to everyone, but the classical piano is brilliant. Dustin shines as a soulful man.
Hold Fast Hope (8/10): So the most aggressive song on the album. This song is better live, great in that kind of setting. However still a great song with fantastic lyrics.
Music Box (9/10): after listening to this song so much, i started skipping it, but lately I’ve been enjoying it more. It has a great message. i also having the actual sound of the music box on the track gives it an edge.
Like Moths To a Flame (8/10): So i would say, quality wise It’s great. It has a story and it really works. Powerful. Although i have to say, It’s not my first choice, its not always the most "listener friendly" song but is still artistic and strong.
Of Dust and Nations (10/10): as soon as i heard this song i knew it was my favorite. The atmosphere is yummy, its a soundscape. The ending with the guitars (teps is god) gave me a moment one time to reflect on so much. That powerful.
Stand and Feel Your Worth (7/10): For me It’s the song i skip. But i think its hard to listen to because It’s so powerful and emotional for me. Maybe a little too dark. I feel like I’m falling through a black hole. But i must say, this song live is amazing.
Red Sky (10/10): This is the best way to end a cd. It feels like a conclusion. Fantastic song. Another masterpiece. I can barely put into words how great this song is.

So good, I bought it TWICE! (no pun intended)
