Don't Buy This! (It might make them famous)

Ok. So you weren't at the Bags show in the basement of the Middle East in Cambridge MA when they played under the guise of "The Foul Balls" to avoid fame, fortune and a record label signing. I know, 'cos there were like 15 people there and half of them shared a cab with me. And, you may not care that "Swamp Oaf" and other incarnations ripped the toupees off the aging rock gods of old and forged a new brand of heavy that was a frosty draught to the parched land of power rock. Tongue in cheek half the time (all the time) and so amazingly thick and gravity-laden, the Bags defiled you as a wussy little bighair band lover and showed you how to rock goddammit. Night of the Corn People, when the boys finally decided to put their genius onto CD, was a hint that maybe, despite their shyness, I might be able to abandon some of my cassettes of Boston area college late night radio rock interviews (the "Swamp Oaf" show should be immortalized on CD for the sake of posterity) and let them bash my senses with new clarity. Waiting for Maloney is just so satirical it makes me laugh and rock at the same time. L. Frank is beyond Spinal Tap-esque and slams so hard your not sure if these guys are ragging on you or really in that groove. Bliss!

Booo!

I bought the CD when it was originally released in '91. It is a phenomenal rock album. A great sense of humor, awesome rocking, a good time for all! I've gone to many of their shows and have been impressed consistently.
