Album Review
A CD reissue of a late-'70s/early-'80s album. Siegel embraces blues, jazz, and pop structures in an interesting, arresting, and clever manner reminiscent of Mose Allison. A four-piece horn section backs up the vocal trio. The Kevin O'Connell Trio, George Bedard on guitar, and Mike Blanchard on tenor sax are featured. There are ten cuts, all Siegel originals. Classic Rockin Blues Sensibility
by EliomoThis was one of my favorite bands to hear in the late 70's in Ann Arbor. Dick and company knew how to rock the house at the Star Bar or wherever they were performing and this was and album that I played over and over for many years but it has been lost with my turntable too many years ago now. Just last night, while talking to my college freshman daughter about one of her friend's boyfriend problems, I was discussing the song "what would brando do" and lamenting that the last time I had tried to find this "album" on CD I was told it didn't exist! This is one of the best purchases (allowing some sentimentality here) that I've ever made on Itunes!
Top Five Albums of ALL TIME
by Jeep EN295As a former resident of Ann Arbor in the late 70's, imagine my surprise to search "Dick Siegel" and see his smilin' face on the cover of the Snap! album!
I've searched high and low in the NYC Metro area for this album! Seeing Dick perform live at the Blind Pig, and at Uof M is still a very very fond memory! Everyone should get this album! See you at Angelo's! Here's to you, Dano and Cheryl!
Mmmm, Angelo's!
by Dr David WI spent many years going to school in Ann Arbor, including 4 years in medical school, and as any of you from the area know, Angelo's is the BEST little breakfast spot in the world, and it's right across the street from the med school library. They play that song every Sunday morning on WCSX in Detroit, and I can almost smell the french toast when I hear it, no matter where I am. Dick Siegel really captured the experience and put it perfectly to music!
