Even better live
by Troy in IndyGreat music all around. Not only is this albumn well written with instantly likable music, but it is solidly delivered with catchy tunes. Would recommend the JVB to anyone who appreciates a pure sound with impressive talent. I had the chance to see them live as well, and they are even better. These guys love music and I can only hope to see more from them.
Acoustic fueled rock that does not disappoint

Lead Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist, Jeremy Vogt, has assembled a unique group of musicians including Christian Starnes (bass and vocals), Ryan Shore (percussion), and Curtis Cree (lead guitar and vocals) to present their debut album, People in Strange Places.
With an acoustically focused rock fuel, the songs quickly drive to a familiar place where you can easily associate your own experiences. If you find yourself in the music without trying, that says something, doesn't it? The strong percussion intro to “Ocean Song” quickly gives way to an ebb and flow between drums and acoustic guitar that gives the listener the impression of waves approaching and retreating from a beach. Perhaps these waves hold the key to our insecurities. If the masks of social reality, pain, love, and need (in short, human emotion) are your thing, “Fallacy” is your song. The sonic landscape is clear from the acoustic slack tuning and Christian's upright bass in “Waiting” and “11” to the tasteful B3 solos of Bobby G. Summers (Babyface) in “Ocean Song” and “Simple Serenade” (which really isn't that simple underneath). Attention to detailed lyrics and musical composition help create well-crafted and powerfully thoughtful songs that will command the attention of many listeners. Rock on.
Fantastic Album!!!
by Zeke_in_JerseyBuy this album! Indie artist (and Indy artist) Jeremy Vogt (Vote) totally nails it - Every song on this record is fantastic. Special guests Kenny Aronoff (Mellencamp, Etheridge, etc - percussion) and Bobby G Summers (Al Green - Hammond B3 organ) lend seasoned musical chops to this up-and-coming musician's 11-track debut. I've been listening to JVB for a few years now and the songwriting just keeps getting better. Lyrically, the songs are tight, intelligent (without being cerebral), and meaningful. In fact, there's a subtle lyrical thread interwoven throughout the album uniting the work thematically. It makes for a very nice - and wonderfully honest - testament on human relationships ("People in Strange Places") that never fails to deliver musically. You won't find any trite pop hooks or heavy-handed lyrical attempts that indie songwriters are starting to settle for. Vogt's sound is all heartland acoustic guitar driven rock n' roll - with hints of blues, southern rock, and folk. The only thing this album lacks is more tracks. It is such a solid composition - one can only hope JVB has the staying power to do it again.
