It Dont Get Better Than This!

Dang! This album rocks! Frankenstein 3000 shows there throwback roots. And they invited some of the legends to the party like David Johansen tearing it up on the Doll's classic Babylon , Cherie Currie, AMAZING duet on American Nights other in attendance include Leif Garett, Cheetah Chrome, and Handsome Dick. The singer Keith Roth also is on Sirus Satellite Radio. Great stuff! Amazing versions of the deep cuts and rock classics from mostly the 70's. A MUST!

Guest stars galore on a great CD!

East Coast rockers Frankenstein 3000 decided to compile some covers they had recorded for tribute records as well as record some fresh ones. They asked some 70s punk luminaries to help out, like David Johansen from the New York Dolls (who sings on their "Babylon"), The Runaways' Cherie Currie (who sings on their "American Nights"), Cheetah Chrome from the Dead Boys who sings on the Ramones later hit "Bop 'Til You Drop", Derwood Andrews from Generation X who adds some guitar to Joe Jackson's "I'm The Man" and "Handsome" Dick Manitoba from The Dictators, who contributes background vocals to the Ramones' "Rockaway Beach". Also making appearances on the CD are Leif Garrett and New York Dolls guitarist Steve Conte on the album's centerpiece, T Rex's "20th Century Boy".

The CD starts with The Dandy Warhols' "Welcome To The Monkeyhouse", which sets the tone perfectly with it's snide lyrics about the state of modern music. The party really gets started with a propulsive version of The Beatles' "Good Morning, Good Morning". That's followed by the sheer mayhem of Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack". The CD continues with "American Nights", "Bop 'Til You Drop" and Sweet's "Blockbuster" (with an added surprise). Cheap Trick's "Lookout" (only ever released on their "Live At Budokan" album), Redd Kross' "Shonen Knife" and "20th Century Boy" wrap up the first half of the CD. "It's Only Love", a should-have-been hit from The Wildhearts, kicks off the second half, followed by Velvet Underground's "Can't Stand It", The Dictators' "P***y And Money" and then "Rockaway Beach". The momentum continues with "Babylon", "I'm The Man" (with another surprise thrown in), The Pretenders' "Mystery Achievement" and finally comes to a close with The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper Reprise/The End" medley.

There a couple versions of a radio jingle Frankenstein 3000 recorded as bonus tracks which adds up to "20 Explosive Tracks" like it says on the cover.

The band makes many of these songs their own while still paying respect to the original artists. It's obvious from listening to this CD that Frankenstein 3000 are fans of all of these groups. Maybe they'll put some of their own music out soon, which will hopefully be influenced by all the bands they love.
