Rivertown really does Rock!
by camperdown elmThis album really surprised me with a refreshing sound all its own. It is amazing to find a compilation album that hangs together as a whole so well, as this one does. The music is totally fresh, but you also get some delicious reminiscence of hardcore 60's/70's rock in some songs, while others are peppered with a totally updated hit on 80's beats and vocals, as in the quite brilliant song Cary Grant. Letter from London is the ultimate love-story song, the kind that has teenage girls secretly crying in their rooms as they fantasize about the mythical heartbreak the singer so longingly describes. Most of the other songs just flat out rock, like Bette Says, Watch You Move and the jamming #1 track Broadway by Matt Turk that burns with the energy, passion and driving rhythm of the city street. I have been listening to this album over and over and the enjoyment just increases every time I play it. You have to hear it for yourself. Highly recommend.
