Venomously Infectious

I know these guys so I had to listen to this and knew there would be an obligation to pretend I liked it. If you have ever been friends with an artist or two then you know the situation I am describing. The thing is, though, I actually really like it. I have never been a big bluegrass or country fan but I have listened to this album over and over. And I find myself humming songs from it at random moments when I haven't even listened to it for a while. It has a certain misty mysterious quality to it that is quite indescribable. It evokes an atmosphere of simultaneous cozy bedtime story warmth and frightening after bedtime story menace. There is a wonderful mixture of universal folktale and uniquely authentic vision pervading the entire album, not to mention a twisted sense of humor. Every time I listen to it I find myself convincing myself that the song playing at the moment is the best one on the album.
