Every Breath does exactly what it sets out to do!
by MusicFanFLI take slight issue with one of the existing reviews. To me, with my love for swing, big band, jazz, and praise music, this CD is EXACTLY what it claims to be: Contemporary Christian praise songs with both a big band and jazzy flavor. It is not just a mixture of songs but a mixture of styles, moods, and feelings, as well. This CD is something different in a sea of praise music that can be rather repetitive. The nature of the lyrics is indeed uplifting, but the arrangements and flair of the band "takes you there," too.
A "breath" of fresh air
by musiclover1871This is great music by great musicians. I had the pleasure of seeing these guys play at their church in Wales last year and they are awesome live. I would say that they rock, but of course they don't - they Swing!
There's something for everyone here, from great new arrangements of popular hymns (How Great Thou Art, O the Deep Deep Love) and reinterpretations of modern worship songs (Beautiful One, Shout to the Lord) to some beautiful self-penned ballads (Surely) and more besides.
Why should all worship music be classical, country or rock? Let “Every Breath” broaden your horizons - it may well become your favorite worship album.
someone paid....
by anonymousone1....to have this cd made. Someone thought this was a good idea to make a cd like this. This is not jazz. Repeat, this is NOT jazz. This is worship music with a swing beat, which is not the same thing as jazz. I am a Christian, and a jazz musician at that, and this cd and the idea of it make me seriously question the motives of anyone involved in it.
Honestly, this CD sounds plain silly. The singers and musicians all sound very good. It's the idea behind the cd that seems just absurd. The idea that someone thought this was a good idea and then got singers and a band together seems...like a marketing move gone bad...very bad.
