Album Review

Bo Ramsey's In The Weeds is informed by the reverb-heavy sound made famous by '50s era Chess label icons including Muddy Waters, Little Walter, and Sonny Boy Williamson. "Sidetrack Lounge" conjures the spirit of John Lee Hooker, while "Big Bill" honors Big Bill Broonzy. More contemporary figures are celebrated on In the Weeds as well — the wistful "Desert Flower" is a tribute to Lucinda Williams, who also contributes harmony vocals.
