Album Review
Diana is something of a strong indie triple threat — a solid, lyric-based songwriter, a strong guitarist and keyboardist, and an emotional vocalist whose voice can range from sweet to raspy in the Pat Benatar-like sense. The result of these elements is a very likeable singer/songwriter-based project that's acquainted with heartache but whose overall tone speaks of hope through the trials. "Pieces of You and I" is a memorable rocker with a playful country flavor, while "Here in Me" is an aggressive expression of finding love within after an exhaustive search. The power ballad "Firelight" is a nice display of her tender side, and it's enjoyable to dream along with her. Ditto the lament "I Wait" and the emotional breakthrough of the title track. Listened to individually, these songs work as emotional snapshots chronicling the many facets of the search for love within and outside oneself. But it's better to see this as a journey. When Diana finds "Something I Can Believe," those who have become emotionally involved here might find themselves cheering and see a reflection of themselves.
