Album Review
Sue Keller's fourth release for Ragtime Press finds the pianist not only playing classic rags but popular songs of the early days (including "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and "St. Louis Blues") and, most significantly, five rags written since 1975. She also sings a few of the non-ragtime pieces with a decent and spirited voice. However the emphasis is on her piano playing and Keller manages to bring life to the veteran selections by varying the tempos. This CD contains fresh and enthusiastic renditions that keep ragtime from being just a museum piece.
