Joel Lightman the new Pianoman
by Jason WayneJoel Lightman is a great upcoming artist with the songwriting talents of a younger Billy Joel, and he wields the piano like Elton John. Now i'll go over this album. It opens with "Step It Up" as fast beat song that reminds me of Elvis Costello's "Pump it Up". With "Take Me Home" Lightman comes out in his own with his soaring accented vocals and piano style. "These Feelings" and "Walking Backwards" are probably some of the best on this album a little bit slower and more piano based and very well written lyrics. "Stand and Be Counted" is another great catchy pop song. "My Sweetest Vice" is a more rock song. "Believe" is another great piano ballad. "Goodbye, Good Luck, Good Riddance" is the best song here and the perfect sum up of Joel Lightman if you get one song get this. Its a upbeat song and great lyrics that anyone can relate to. "Picture Imperfect" shows lightmans more soulful side. "Willful Disciples" is a darker song and the music is really impacting with the lyrics. "All Forgiven" is another great song starting slow and getting bigger with ressuring lyrics. This Album finishes with "Sleep Tight" a slow ballad more like a lullaby to leave listening feeling at ease. Look for Joel Lightman Band to do great things in the future.
