by detrimental affectionI love this album as well as Sketchbook2. Johnette Napolitano has such a unique voice and I find her lyrics so meaningful and easy to relate to. Her music is a true gem in a world of rocks.....

by soaring hawkHeres to a woman who, I suppose is a bit difficult, but it's only through difficulty in trying to understand this world that an artist such as Johnette can achieve something that is a sheer pleasure to listen to. From canvases of her subjective mind reflecting her inner mood such as the song, LIKE A CLOUD, to the actuality of where this world is spinning off to such as the song, SHOCKING, reflecting a world in distress. These songs and many others on the album lingers on the listener with more weight after each distinctive song radiates from ear to ear. It may take a couple times of playing the song before the magic takes a hold of you, but once it does your hooked by her enchanting voice and her poetic and intelligent lyrics. This is hardly like her earlier creative endeavors of playing with Mankey & various band members of the mighty Concrete Blonde days but just as satisfying. You may be quite charmed.
