Salsa!
by moosejr1This group is great!! They play in Pittsburgh and are comprised of QUALITY musicians. They're very solid musically, and take what they do seriously, but have fun with it too! I find myself dancing and just "in" the music the whole time. I actually bought two CDs so I always have one at home and one in my car! It's a great way to unwind and loosen up after a stressful day.
A studio quality live performance.
by Tito MarkoThis group is a prime example of great musicians making great music. The album in itself is well crafted with catchy hooks and virtuosic playing. The groove and pocket of this group is so strong it will pull you in at track one and won't let you go until the cd stops spinning. As I have seen them perform more times then I can count, I can honestly say this is the only live performance that I can watch over and over and get as much out of each show as if it were the first. The group consists of some serious heavy hitters from Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. The long and short of it....buy the album, see the show, and if you are even the least bit disappointed then I suggest you reevaluate your taste.
not too run of the mill
by Do That! This is a cool album. I always prefer female singers when it comes to salsa - they're simply much sexier. Still, in this case it may be an acquired taste. She's a great singer, though more along the lines of Selena in intonation than your typically female salsa singer. However, there are both spanish and english vocals a la Ray Barretto. The band's style is also unique, mixing a few R&B influences, but still keeping the cuban rhythms tight. You gotta love the killing me softly cover; it's pretty fantastic, i'm tempted to use a similar arrangement with my own band.
"Dame una Sonrisa" is another great track, and exemplary of their Salsa meets R&B style.
