This Needs to Be Heard By Everyone!
by An Honest LivingI saw Cary Ann open for Band of Horses in Orlando and I honestly wasn't expecting much after checking out their myspace before the show. So when she and her band started to play I was instantly blown away. She was clearly having so much fun up there and to me that makes all the difference. I couldn't believe that so much passion and energy, not to mention her impossibly beautiful voice, was coming from such a tiny person.
My personal favorites from the album are "Dresden Snow" which has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard in this or any genre of music, and "Trouble About My Soul" which is definitely in the top ten on my list of the "Coolest" songs I've ever heard. It's crunchy, it's catchy, it is amazing, as is the the entire album. If you like Band of Horses, My Morning Jacket, Iron & Wine (Although Cary is much louder.) and even Calexico, you should love Cary Ann Hearst and the Gun Street Girls.
